It all started on a Saturday morning when a dumb cat ran into my backyard. I was chasing it out when all of a sudden it came to a halt. Turning around I noticed it was sniffing a dead bird. Just as I remembered when Leo brought me a dead bird. My neighbors gave Leo to us when their dog was having puppies.
Leo was originally named Leonardo De Vinci, but I always called him Leo. It was my sister’s idea for the name. He is a yellow Labrador. If you asked anyone who knew him, they would say he is the kindest dog in the world. He was a very bulky dog and fit. Leo was kind but also very energetic. He was fun and always happy. But he also was an awesome hunter. It comes from his grandpa named Buckshot (but the call him Buck like in Call of the Wild). I still remember when he brought me a bird he caught himself!
It all started when I was looking at pools to see which I’d like the best. Then I spotted a bird like the one Leo killed. It was a hot, sunny, summer day when all of a sudden my friend came over. She asked “Do you want to come over for a swim. You can bring Leo and he can play sugar and biscuit (her dogs).” So I quickly threw my bathing suit on and headed over with Leo. Leo has never swum before so he was getting a bit skeptic. Especially when Hannah (my friend) started putting him over the pool. Once she gently put him in the water he calmed down a bit. It wasn’t till he was fully in the pool he was totally fine. He immediately swam to me. Yet ended up clawing me in the back. I guess he was still a bit scared. I think I even started bleeding! Finally he got off of my shoulders. He started swimming around like nothing. He even started doing laps, can you believe that! Maybe about 5 minutes later he wanted to get out. Being the nice owner I am I picked him up and took him out of the pool. When he was out of the pool he ran around the yard. Then he brought me his tug of war toy. I couldn’t help but to play with him. While he had the toy in his mouth he jumped into the water. Without noticing I was still holding on. All of a sudden I jerked forward and face planted right into the water. Man-Oh-Man did that hurt!
